I have had to call them about a couple different models of printers the past couple of years. Price reflects this somewhat in my opinion. I do get the occasional model that has an issue and needs replaced. It does not need to check every day for an update. Updates for printers come out very rarely. I usually disable most if not all those things. You also might want to check what it communicates to HP. You may want to customize the install, if you are wanting to minimize the amount of extra stuff that can get installed on the system.
